Welcome to Hoply ("we", "us", "our"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Hoply mobile application and website (the "Service").

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: name, email address, age, gender, and any profile details you choose to provide.
  • Training data: runs you log or sync, distance, duration, pace, route, heart rate, and perceived effort.
  • Health and fitness goals: training goals, fitness level, and any limitations you share with our AI coach.
  • Device & usage data: device model, operating system, app version, language, crash reports, and basic analytics needed to keep the Service stable and secure.
  • Communications: messages you send to support and your interactions with our AI coach, Hoppy.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your information to:

  • Generate and adapt your personalized training plan.
  • Provide AI coaching responses tailored to your training history.
  • Show your progress and statistics.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • Send important account and service notifications.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share it with advertisers.

4. Legal Basis (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, we process your data on these legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: to provide the Service you signed up for.
  • Consent: for optional features such as health data processing or marketing communications. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legitimate interests: to keep the Service secure, debugged, and improved.
  • Legal obligation: where required by applicable law.

5. Sharing With Third Parties

We share data only with trusted sub-processors who help us operate the Service:

  • Cloud infrastructure and database providers (for storage and backups).
  • Email delivery providers (for account and transactional emails).
  • AI providers (to power coaching responses; messages are processed transiently).
  • Crash and analytics providers (in aggregated, anonymous form).

All sub-processors are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we instruct.

6. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain certain records (for example, billing history related to your $6.99 monthly or $49.99 annual subscription). Backups are purged on a rolling 90-day cycle.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to keep your data safe.

9. Children

Hoply is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International Transfers

Your data may be processed in countries outside your own. When we transfer data outside the EEA, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Apple Health and HealthKit

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Hoply may read workout, heart-rate, and activity data with your explicit permission to personalise your training plan. You can revoke access at any time from the Health app.

Data obtained through HealthKit is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining purposes. It is never sold or shared with third parties for their own purposes. It is used only to provide the coaching features you have asked for, and is stored encrypted on our servers under the same protections described above. If you do not connect Apple Health, no HealthKit data is collected.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
